Today , Weir & McQuiston employs over one hundred people on a permanent basis, with seasonal increases to cope with on-going work. Many of the people who joined the company in the early days are still there. Paul Weir, who joined his father in the business 27 years ago, is now Managing Director and he is joined at senior management level by Sam Hanna, who has been with the company 27 years having joined as an apprentice and now acts as Senior Electrical Contracts Manager, Barry Liddell who has been with the company since January 1996 when he set up the mechanical division as Senior Mechanical Contracts Manager and Pat Mulholland, who has been with the company for 16 years and fulfills the role of Commercial Manager.

The Company was formed in September 1961 by Mr W. C. Weir, formerly Assistant Manager of James Kilpatrick (Balfour Kilpatrick). In September 1962 he was joined by Mr S McQuiston to form a partnership known as Weir & McQuiston. The partnership became a Limited Company on 27 May 1964. To enhance the future development of the Company a Mechanical Services Section was formed in January 1996 to keep pace with present trends in the Construction Industry where MultiServices Contractors are now required.

• Having been awarded a contract, the Managing Director nominates a Contracts Manager to control the project.
• Regular Project Meetings are held with the Managing Director and the Contracts Managers to ensure that contracts are on programme and completed to the Customer satisfaction.
• The Company operates a central buying system so that our Contracts Managers are not burdened with the day to day ordering and scheduling of materials.
• This function is the sole responsibility of our Purchasing Director. Our experience shows that by operating this system, it leaves our Contracts Managers free to concentrate on supervision of the project.
• Throughout the progression of any contract the Company's Integrated Management System and procedures are consistently in place covering all aspects of Health Safety, Environmental and Quality issues.
